The Ozarks of Missouri and Arkansas offer some of the finest trout fishing in the world, yet it is greatly overlooked as a fly fishing destination. The Ozarks is home to monster brown trout as well as a chance to complete the Arkansas Grand Slam (Brook Trout, Brown Trout, Cutthroat Trout, and Rainbow Trout all in the same day on the same river) on the White River tailwater system; large rainbows in Lake Taneycomo. Combine those experiences with the chance to chase the genetically pure strain of McCloud Rainbows on Crane Creek as well as wild trout in other Ozark streams along with numerous other fisheries that provide habitat for Brown and Rainbow Trout in Missouri’s 300+ miles of spring fed waters and the Ozarks offer an incredible adventure in fly fishing for trout.
The links below are meant to serve as an online Ozark fly fishing guidebook and will provide you with stream names, access locations and GPS waypoints, fly recommendations, as well as other useful information when fly fishing in the Ozarks. Good luck on your adventures and maybe one day we will meet on stream.
