Little Missouri River (Narrows Dam)

Description of Water

The heart of fly fishing for trout on the Little Missouri River centers around the lower portion of the river, below Lake Greeson’s Narrows Dam.  This tailwater, like many others in the Ozarks, is home to a variety of species including Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout which are stocked by the AGFC.  The Little Missouri River’s headwaters form in the Ouachita Mountains above Lake Greeson, and offer some challenging fishing for smallmouth bass and various other species including trout which are stocked around the Albert Pike Campground on the river.

The river is no where as large as its counterpart tailwaters in Arkansas, and the trout do not get as large, but that doesn’t discount the beautiful scenery that this river offers when fishing it.  Twenty inch fish are not uncommon, but that is a true trophy from this river.
