This is a very well put together site indeed.

I am a Tennessee native who is planning a floating trip for this weekend (assuming the weather holds) and wanted to maybe get some insight into solid long pole patterns. I have been an avid east Tennessee fly fisherman for about 7 years now. I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction for fly patterns that are hot this time of year. I have fishing the white river, and the little red but i have been told this is a completely different animal all together. If anyone could please help with this it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Matthew

Jerry:

Thanks for the kind words about the site. The 11pt is a great river. If it were any easier to get to, it may not be as great of a river, so definitely enjoy your time when down there.

I haven't been to the eleven point in a while, but for 10 years a friend and I used to float it every year on labor day weekend. The fishing was almost always good. That was in my pre fly fishing years, fishing with light spinning gear, we used to tear em up with Rebel minnows and mepps spinners, than in the white ribbon section with power bait drifted through the riffles. But like I said, that was before I caught the fly fishing bug. I,m looking forward to going back, with my fly rod this time, and fish this great river. Thanks for putting up this cool web site. It's been a lot of help to me as I've been learning about this fine sport of fly fishing.

Welp, mostly just testing out this section of the site.

I floated the Eleven Point for the first time last weekend with my son Michael, Andrew Arnold and his family and some friends. We put in at Greer with all our gear on board and floated a few miles down and set up camp. Didn't fish a lot, but gawd it's a gorgeous river! Can't wait to really give it a go fishing.

Launched potatoes, ate some great food (my brother's BBQ among it) and just enjoyed good company. Floated down to Turner and took out Sunday AM. Only downside is the 5-1/2 hour drive to KC.
